random recollections on a warm spring day-

back where i belong

a distant song returning gladness as trees stand grateful, sensing a mynah's call in the morning, while a stray rests, watchful for friends as temperate coral-blue skies bestow coolness, and quiets the evening. green coasts bring tidings scented with an old tang of salt- sudden distilled tastes airing a roomful of loss, spoken in restive and humid language- contouring shorelines of memory where sampans, iced tea, date palms, wild boar, hibiscus and attap re-trace ready maps on the mind.

sights i miss, and missing.

unfinished chapters- pulau ubin, singapore

Hello Mr Koh!

You're an inspiration sir. Hope that everything's going well in your life. Being in NS, I can't help but remember the times in class where the class discussed on the "practicality" of NS. Everyday in camp, I envy our friends who are in uni right now. However, after reading your posts, especially concerning solitude, I realise that even NS has its sweet moments.

I may not be able to go on wonderful adventures throughout the globe and discover the "finer" side of life, but after lying down and doing all sorts of activities in the jungle, I begin to appreciate small minute details in life, such as watching the sun set, even more. Sometimes I'm thankful that NS gives a short break, and moments of solitude, from the constant rat race in Singapore.

Oh boy, I think I've rambled to much here. Take care Mr Koh! God Bless.
